Congressman Bill Johnson (R-Marietta) released the following statement after introducing the Strengthening American Nuclear Competitiveness Act (H.R. 1748) and the Unlocking Our Domestic LNG Potential Act (H.R. 1575) – both part of the broader Securing Cleaner American Energy: House Energy and Commerce Republicans are leading on legislation that would secure America’s energy future and global competitive edge. This package will spur the development and deployment of clean energy infrastructure without the unworkable mandates, regulations, and federal government spending that dominate the climate and infrastructure plans of President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and leading Democrats. Additionally, these bills will modernize and improve our energy infrastructure and promote an all-of-the-above energy strategy across-the-board, including solutions to unleash innovation in hydropower, nuclear, clean coal, and natural gas. Johnson added: “America’s energy dominance must be preserved at all costs; the fate of our country and our Appalachian region depends upon it. My Republican colleagues and I remain committed to ensuring that American energy workers are protected, their jobs are secured, energy innovation is fostered, and critically, that energy costs remain low.” |
