Bill Johnson (R-Marietta) today issued the following statement:

I applaud today's official move of the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Jerusalem has been, and always will be, the capital of Israel, unless the Jewish people themselves determine otherwise. Today has been a long time in the making; on three separate occasions, the U.S. House and Senate supported recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital. I firmly believe that by recognizing Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state, with Jerusalem as her capital, the foundation is set for real, lasting peace in the Middle East.

This is yet another campaign promise that President Trump made and has now kept. Previous administrations made the same promise, only to fail to deliver. As Co-Chair of the Israel Victory Caucus in the House, today's action sends a message: Israel should know that we will continue to stand side by side with one of our greatest friends.
