After structural deficiencies were revealed, the village of Cadiz has been without a post office since September.

Today, Congressman Bill Johnson visited Cadiz for an update.

Residents have been going to the post office in nearby Jewett for service, but postal officials say a temporary post office will soon be stationed outside the Harrison Hills School Administration building.

"We know construction is supposed to start this week - that's what the postal service said - now they've got to remove some soil, prepare the pad and then they've got to set the trailer down and get it all hooked up,” Johnson said.

Johnson says postal officials hope to have the temporary trailer open to postal customers in two weeks.

Postal officials say a new, permanent post office could take more than a year to build, but a new location has not yet been selected.
