Rep. Bill Johnson (R-Marietta) released the following statement after Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt announced he would move to withdraw the Clean Power Plan, finalized by the Obama administration in 2015:

"I strongly support the Trump Administration's decision to formally end the coal-job-killing set of regulations that President Obama put in place.  EPA Administrator Pruitt understands that the so-called "Clean Power Plan" - an unconstitutional executive order from the previous administration - attacked hard working families and would not have a meaningful impact on global carbon emissions. The Supreme Court had serious concerns about this regulation - that's why the court struck it down. It was never about protecting the environment; rather it was about more executive overreach, more regulations, and targeting specific industries deemed enemies of the Obama White House.

"During the campaign, President Trump ran on ending the War on Coal. Today's announcement is a big step towards that goal, and will help protect the jobs that so many hardworking families in Eastern and Southeastern Ohio rely on."
