Congressman Bill Johnson recently returned from Thailand where he spoke with officials with PTT Global about the proposed cracker plant at Dilles Bottom.

Johnson, R-Ohio, says it was his role on the energy and commerce committee that took him to Thailand.

"I can tell you that everybody in Thailand, from the top government officials all the way down to the company representatives, they want to see this project," Johnson said.

While Johnson remains confidant in a positive, future announcement, he's also realistic.

In February, PTT Global officials announced a delay in its investment.

"I’m not going to tell you that it’s a done deal, but I am going to tell you that there's a lot of optimism, and there’s a lot of work going into making sure the i’s are dotted and the t's are crossed,” Johnson said.

“Anytime you invest $6 billion into a project, you’re going to make sure that everything is lined up properly to make sure you can pull it off.”

Johnson believes PTT Global is still on track for an announcement in the third or fourth quarter of this year.
