Published December 5, 2016 Ohio Congressman Bill Johnson was in Washington DC Monday with several other political and business leaders to try to work on moving America forward. They’re meeting with a group called “No Labels” for the “1787: Constructing Peace After the War” event. It’s an effort to come up with ways to bring the country together after the divisive November election. Johnson says that he’s looking forward to working for policies that help all Americans. “What I’m trying to do is build bridges, not barriers, not walls, so that we can reach out to those that we might not agree with on everything, and find those areas where we can agree on some things.” Leaders from both sides of the aisle agree on pushing a national agenda that includes job growth, energy stabilization, social services and balancing the budget. As far as President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet selections, Johnson doesn’t have any complaints. “I’m certainly not one to argue with the selections that have been made thus far,” he said. He says many positions have been filled in a short period of time, and that the future administration is “making great progress.” |
