Congressman Bill Johnson visited and toured Valley View Health Center in Jackson during National Community Health Center Week held in early August.

Johnson toured the building, located at 14590 State Route 93 in Jackson, where he learned more about their day-to-day operations and the different patients they serve.

This was Johnson’s first trip to this facility which was scheduled as part of National Health Centers Week from Aug. 7 to Aug. 13. The week is held across the country and is designed to raise awareness of the community clinics that provide high quality, cost-effective healthcare to economically underserved areas.

Following the tour of the facility, Community Action Committee of Pike County Executive Director Keith Pitts presented Johnson with a certificate for his steadfast commitment to supporting community health centers across the country.

According to Pitts, the recent expansion dollars granted to the site in June have increased comprehensive dental services to the area, and without this continued support and funding the center would not have seen the successes it has had to date.

Johnson then wrapped up his visit by presenting the health center a proclamation, which he read to those present.

“On behalf of the people of Ohio’s Sixth Congressional District, I am honored to recognize Valley View Health Care Center during the celebration of National Community Health Center Week,” Johnson began.

“Every year, the health care needs of over 22 million Americans are served by the various community health centers around the country,” Johnson said. “These facilities serve some of the most medically underserved and lower income communities in the Untied States, and play a critical role in America’s health care system.”

Johnson continued, “With multiple locations, Valley View Health Care Centers have been providing community health services to the people of Southern Ohio for more than 30 years, offering services including pediatrics, geriatrics, prenatal care and nutritional care with payments that are calculated based on family income. Their work has been vital to the health and well being of the community.”

Johnson wrapped up by saying, “Thus, with great pride, I thank Valley View Health Care Center for its commitment to providing quality health care to the community and extend to its leadership and team best wishes for the future.”

Following the proclamation was a cookout with refreshments provided. There was also different health-related information available for those present.

Valley View Health Centers have locations in Adams, Jackson, Pike, and Scioto Counties. Mission: Their mission is to provide access to affordable, high quality, integrated health care for all. The health center is a Health Center Program grantee under 42 U.S.C. 254b, and a deemed Public Health Service employee under 42 U.S.C.233 (g)-(n).
