Representative Bill Johnson (R-Marietta) issued the following statement on the Justice Department’s decision to redact (i.e., omit key parts of) the Orlando shooter’s declaration of allegiance to the Islamic State in the transcripts of 911 calls from the June 12 shooting:

“The American people are sick and tired of the Obama Administration’s determination to shape the narrative in their own political best interests, rather than the best interests of our country.  The facts are these: The Orlando terrorist was a radicalized, pro-ISIS killer who specifically targeted a group of citizens. Censoring the 911 phone call transcripts doesn’t change this.  President Obama and Attorney General Lynch refusing to call the enemy what they are doesn’t make the enemy go away. This is not an enemy we can wish or censor away, and the American people deserve to know the whole truth, the real truth.  And, not releasing the full transcript is an insult to the intelligence of all Americans.”
