Earlier today, Congressman Johnson voted for the Bipartisan Budget Act (H.R. 1314) to ensure that America does not go into default on our financial obligations, and to begin making structural reforms to preserve Social Security and undo Obamacare. The bill was approved by the House of Representatives in a bipartisan vote of 266-167:

“The Bipartisan Budget Act is a step forward, in a deeply divided Washington, to begin putting some common sense reforms in place.   This bill would: stop the President’s weakening of our nation’s security by increasing funding for our troops and our national defense; dismantle a part of Obamacare by repealing the automatic enrollment provision – saving taxpayers nearly $8 billion; prevents a premium hike of over 50 percent on millions of Medicare beneficiaries that was set to automatically begin in January; put the Social Security program on more stable ground by enacting reforms that eliminate fraud, waste, and abuse of the system; and, prevent America from defaulting on our financial obligations. “
