Johnson: Congress Should Have Final Say on Any Iran Deal
"Trusting that Iran has suddenly had a change of heart in its decades-long quest to obtain a nuclear weapon is naïve at best."
Representative Bill Johnson (R-Marietta) issued the following statement after House passage of the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015:
“I have very real concerns with the tentative nuclear deal the Obama administration reached with Iran. Trusting that Iran has suddenly had a change of heart in its decades-long quest to obtain a nuclear weapon is naïve at best,” Bill Johnson said.
“The legislation that passed the House today would allow Congress to review and vote on any deal that the Administration makes with Iran. A recent poll showed us that 62 percent of Americans believe Congress should have the final say, and, I couldn’t agree more. America’s security and global security will be jeopardized if President Obama gets this wrong – we must ensure he doesn’t.”
