Congressman Johnson seeking revival of US 30 extension plan
"The extension of US 30 is critical for our region," he said speaking to a group of about 40 people at the Villa Restaurant. "The extension of the road will provide a four-lane avenue for east and west truck traffic efficiency needed due to the oil and gas development in this area of Ohio as well as for residents. It will also increase safety and play a major role in bringing industry to our area."
Carrollton Free Press StandardBy Carol McIntire Published March 19, 2014 The US 30 extension program may soon make its way back to the drawing board. Sixth District Congressman Bill Johnson, R-Marietta, told the group gathered March 15 for the Carroll County Trustee breakfast there is now added urgency to complete US 30 to the Ohio River. "The extension of US 30 is critical for our region," he said speaking to a group of about 40 people at the Villa Restaurant. "The extension of the road will provide a four-lane avenue for east and west truck traffic efficiency needed due to the oil and gas development in this area of Ohio as well as for residents. It will also increase safety and play a major role in bringing industry to our area." Johnson said he made his case to Ohio Governor John Kasich and Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) officials recently. "This isn't going to happen overnight," he continued. "There is still a long way to go." He noted a financial package must be put together and pledged to work on it. He also asked those in attendance to visit his website and leave their comments on the US 30 extension project. The comments will be forwarded to ODOT officials. Johnson fielded several questions from trustees and invited them to attend a collaboration forum he is hosting May 14 in St. Clairsville. |
