"The President and Harry Reid have refused to negotiate so far. It’s time they come to the table."
Congressman Bill Johnson (OH-6) released the following statement, after the House of Representatives passed both amendments of the H.J.Res. 59 - the Continuing Resolution, with votes of 248-174 and 231-192, and H.R 3210 - the Pay Our Military Act, with a unanimous vote of 423-0.
"Today, I joined my colleagues in the House of Representatives to vote for a sensible solution to Washington’s funding fight that will keep our government open, delay the implementation of Obamacare for one year, and permanently repeal the job killing medical device tax. I also voted for separate legislation that will guarantee that our brave members of the military will continue to be paid, even in the event of a government shutdown.
President Obama has already given corporate America a one-year delay in complying with Obamacare’s employer mandate. The House’s common sense measure would provide every American the same much-needed one-year reprieve from complying with Obamacare’s onerous mandates, and avert a government shutdown.
The American people are becoming increasingly concerned about Obamacare as its implementation approaches. They’re concerned about their healthcare insurance premiums rising, their ability to keep insurance they like, their access to physicians they choose, andthey are nervous about Washington bureaucrats interfering in decisions that have traditionally been made by patients and their doctors. In fact, polls show that more Americans oppose this pending government takeover of our health care than support it. The President and Harry Reid have refused to negotiate so far. It’s time they come to the table.
