MARIETTA - Congressman Bill Johnson (OH-6) released the following statement in response to the tragic Navy Yard shooting in Washington, D.C.:

"My heart is heavy for those who have lost their lives, those who were injured, and those who had loved ones involved in today’s Navy Yard shooting in our nation's Capital.

While the details are still unclear, we know these violent actions are both reckless and senseless. I'd like to commend the first responders, who - in the face of danger and confusion - demonstrated swift action and professionalism. I am confident that the FBI and local law enforcement agencies will investigate this tragedy to the fullest extent.

My thoughts and prayers will remain with the victims and their families, not only today, but in the difficult days and weeks ahead."
