Congressman Bill Johnson (R-Marietta) released the
following statement today after voting in favor of H.R. 4078 – The Red Tape
Reduction and Small Business Job Creation Act – important legislation that
empowers America’s small businesses to grow and expand.
“America’s small businesses are the backbone of our
economy, and it is important for small businesses to have regulatory certainty
so that they can grow, expand, and hire new workers. Unfortunately, for far too
long Washington has failed America’s job creators by proposing mountains of new
regulations that rob our economy of almost $2 trillion every year, according to
the Small Business Administration. Since taking office, the Obama
Administration has proposed over 400 new regulations that will cost our economy
$100 million or more EACH. This is unacceptable. Every time I travel up and
down the Ohio River, businesses both small and large tell me that new
government regulations and the threat of even more are keeping them from hiring
and expanding. We need to free America’s job creators from these strangling
regulations that stifle economic growth and kill jobs,” said Bill Johnson.
Johnson added, “As a small business owner myself, I know
firsthand the destructive burden of excessive regulation. The Red Tape
Reduction and Small Business Job Creation Act puts a stop to President Obama’s
unchecked power to issue costly and job-killing regulations on a whim, and is
an important step toward empowering America’s job creators so they can do what
they do best – create jobs.”
