Another opportunity to connect with a shale-boom job is coming to East Liverpool.

The Columbiana County Economic Summit will include a job fair on May 7th.

Columbiana County is a hot bed of shale activity and the theme for this economic summit will be Doing Business in the Oil and Gas Industry.

Congressman Bill Johnson's office is coordinating the job fair at the East Liverpool Motor Lodge.

"We're got over 50 employers that are looking to find people that want to go to work, and we've got a waiting list of, the last time I checked, like 18 additional employers that are trying to get in. The only limitation is the space," Johnson said.

Congressman Johnson says as the shale boom grows it's generating both jobs and new opportunities for local businesses.

"If you look at the work that's done for example to prepare a drill pad, to drill wells, most of that the lion's share of that work is being done by local companies and local labor," Johnson said.

But Johnson points out that the May 7th job fair is not limited to just shale related jobs.

"We've got employers from virtually every sector from oil and natural gas to the service industry; retail, education, construction, you name it," Johnson said.

Admission to the job fair is free.
