Congressman Bill Johnson (R-Marietta) issued the following statement regarding the death of Anwar al-Awlaki:

"Today's killing of Anwar al-Awlaki, the U.S.-born radical cleric who was chief of external operations for al-Qaida on the Arabian Peninsula, was a major victory in the war on terror.  To the brave men and women in the armed forces and other agencies who accomplished this mission, I say thank you. To the critics like the ACLU who criticized this act, I say that when an American takes up arms against his own country and plots acts of deadly terror, he is no longer an American but an enemy who must be targeted and vanquished."

Congressman Johnson is a decorated veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he served as an officer for 27 years.
