Congressman Bill Johnson Statement on Gov't Cutting, Job Creating Budget

Washington, April 15, 2011 | Press Office (202-225-5705)
Congressman Bill Johnson issued the following statement today regarding the federal budget passed by the U.S. House of Representatives that cuts $6.2 trillion from the federal governments:

"No more empty promises, no more budgetary gimmicks or accounting tricks. That's what my House Republican colleagues and I said today when we passed a bold new 2012 Budget. House Republican's budget is another major step toward putting America back on the path to prosperity and forcing the federal government to be accountable to the American taxpayers. Unlike the President's budget that would have increased spending and taxes, House Republican's budget cuts $6.2 trillion in spending, puts in place policies that encourage private-sector job growth, and protects important safety net programs like Medicare and Medicaid so they are sustainable for future generations.  House Republicans understand that we can't spend, tax, and borrow our way back to prosperity. That's why this budget prevents the federal government from continuing its unchecked spending spree at taxpayers' expense, and prevents its continued intrusion into the private sector making it harder for businesses to create jobs."
