Congressman Bill Johnson (OH-6) today announced that Ohio University has been awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce to help provide assistance to job creators in southeast Ohio.

“Helping job creators must be our number one priority, and I’m pleased that Ohio University will be able to continue helping young businesses in our area grow,” said Congressman Bill Johnson. “Southeast Ohio has a strong workforce that is ready and willing to get to work. Encouraging entrepreneurs and helping business in their early stages will be a great help as the region is struggling to recover economically.”

The $894,358 competitive grant is through the Commerce Department’s Economic Development Administration that will allow OU to expand its assistance to entrepreneurs and young companies with the purpose of creating and saving jobs and leveraging private investment throughout 19 counties in southeast Ohio. Those counties include Athens, Belmont, Gallia, Jefferson, Lawrence, Meigs, Scioto and Washington.
