Congressman Bill Johnson (OH-6) today announced that he will serve on two subcommittees on the U.S. House Committee on Natural Resources.

Congressman Johnson will sit on the Subcommittee on Energy and Minerals Resources and the Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public Lands.

“My subcommittee assignments on the Natural Resources Committee give me a platform to fight for eastern and southeastern Ohio’s jobs,” said Congressman Johnson. “We’re blessed with an abundance of natural resources that can be a boon to our economy if we get the government out of the way and stop overregulating our industries. I look forward to working with my colleagues on these important subcommittees to develop smart solutions that will help create jobs while protecting our natural resources.”

“I’m excited to appoint Bill Johnson to serve on our Energy and Minerals Subcommittee.  He understands the importance of a comprehensive, all-of-the-above energy approach in order to keep and create American jobs, strengthen our global economic competitiveness and reduce our dependence on foreign energy.  This Subcommittee assignment will also allow him to work on a variety of mining issues that directly impact the people of Ohio,” said Chairman Doc Hastings.

The House Natural Resources Committee considers legislation about American energy production, mineral lands and mining, fisheries and wildlife, oceans, Native Americans, irrigation and reclamation. The Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources has jurisdiction over issues related to mineral resources on public land geothermal resources, mining interests and most of the U.S. Geological survey. The Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public Lands is responsible for all matters related to the National Park System, U.S. forests, public lands and national monuments.

Congressman Bill Johnson represents all or part of a dozen counties in eastern and southeastern Ohio.
