Congressman Bill Johnson (R-Marietta) released the following statement following President Donald Trump’s budget submission:

America is over $20 trillion in debt, and I'm glad we now have a President who understands that we can’t keep spending money we don’t have. There is no question the federal government can, and must, be better stewards of your money – taxpayer dollars. It is possible to grow our economy, create jobs, and provide for national security all while shrinking the size of our federal government and our national debt.  This budget will kickstart an important, and overdue, debate about the need and effectiveness of many federal programs.

As a member of the House Budget Committee, I look forward to carefully reviewing the President's budget request, and working with the White House and other committee members as we work towards the Fiscal Year 2018 budget.
