Bill Johnson Statement on the July Jobs Report

Washington, Aug 3, 2012 - Congressman Bill Johnson (R-Marietta) released the following statement today in response to the July jobs report showing that the unemployment rate jumped up to 8.3% with only 163,000 jobs being added nationwide to the economy in July.

“Unemployment rose again in July, and it has remained over 8% for 42 straight months.  When will President Obama get it? How many unemployed and underemployed Americans will it take for the President to realize that his economic policies have failed and continue to make America’s economy worse?” said Bill Johnson.

“In order to put Americans back to work, we need to empower America’s job creators, small businesses, to do what  they do best: create jobs. As a former small business owner, I know firsthand that America’s job creators are burdened with excessive regulation and high taxes. I have voted countless times to reduce the regulatory and tax burdens on small businesses, but unfortunately President Obama continually blocks these important steps to put America back to work. Just this week, I voted to stop President Obama’s massive tax increase on America’s job creators from taking effect at the end of the year. Actions speak louder than words, and while President Obama says that he wants to grow America’s economy, his policies are doing the exact opposite.”
