Bill Johnson Statement on the Supreme Court's Immigration Decision
Congressman Bill Johnson (R-Marietta) released the following statement today reacting to the Supreme Court’s ruling to uphold a key provision of Arizona’s immigration law (S.B. 1070) that allows Arizona’s law enforcement to check a person's legal status in the course of enforcing other laws.
“Today’s Supreme Court decision to uphold a key part of Arizona’s immigration law is an important step forward in enforcing America’s immigration law, and highlights President Obama’s failure to lead on this critical issue. Because of the President's failure, Arizona had to step up and do what the federal government won't do – take steps toward securing America’s borders and protecting our citizens. The Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the rule of law is a major step toward an immigration policy that protects Americans and begins the process of fixing what President Obama chooses to neglect.”
