Bill Johnson Fights for JOBS Through Energy Development
Washington,
Jun 21, 2012 -
Congressman Bill Johnson (R-Marietta) released the
following statement today after voting with the House to pass H.R. 4480 – the
Domestic Energy and Jobs Act. This legislation will lower energy prices, create
much-needed jobs, and increase America’s energy independence. Included in the
Domestic Energy and Jobs Act is legislation authored by Bill Johnson that
speeds up America’s energy exploration by allowing federal land leases for
energy production to be auctioned online (H.R. 2752 – the BLM Live Internet
Auctions Act).
“The Domestic Energy and Jobs Act is common sense
legislation that will create much-needed jobs, lower energy prices, and make
America more energy independent. Right now, Ohio families and small businesses
are suffering not only because of President Obama’s failed economic policies
but because of his failed energy policies. Since President Obama took office,
gas prices have surged over 100% and Americans are paying on average $300 more
per year to power their homes. Rather than develop proven energy sources like
coal, oil, and natural gas that will free Americans from the burden of high
energy prices, President Obama would rather gamble hard-earned tax dollars on
failed green energy companies like Solyndra,” said Bill Johnson.
Johnson added, “Americans deserve a true ‘all of the above’
approach to energy development that creates jobs, lowers energy prices, and
increases America’s energy independence. The Domestic Energy and Jobs Act
increases America’s ability to expand its energy exploration by giving the
Secretary of the Interior the ability to lease federal lands through online
auctions. The Domestic Energy and Jobs Act is an important step forward to
advancing an energy policy that actually works FOR hardworking Americans.”
